Profile
Skip is responsible for morale, biscuit audits and reminding everyone that not every problem improves when stared at for another hour.
His operational duties include supervising video calls, interrupting unnecessarily long meetings and ensuring that regular breaks remain part of the working day.
Skip also appears across the platform when something has gone missing, completed successfully or needs a moment to load. These appearances are used sparingly: his job is to make frustrating moments feel more human, not to take over the serious work.
The serious point
Good people practice is not only about policies, procedures and legal compliance. It is also about creating workplaces where people feel valued, supported and able to perform at their best.
Every policy in the Policy Store and every piece of advice offered here exists to serve that end. A well-drafted procedure protects an organisation. A workplace people actually want to be in is what makes the procedure rarely necessary.
In closing
Skip does not provide HR advice. He does, however, remain confident that most difficult situations benefit from a walk before the next email is sent.
